Are you guilty of putting your kid’s dental health ahead of your own? It’s common for parents to forget to schedule their dental check-ups as life gets crazy. Visiting your local HomeTown Dental in Alliance is important because we can help prevent any diseases and maintain your oral health. Not convinced? Here are a few reasons why you should keep up with dental check-ups.
What to expect
As soon as you walk into HomeTown Dental Alliance, you’re family. During each cleaning appointment, there are two steps that you can count on: examination and cleaning. The examination process is to determine the overall health of your teeth. If there are any cavities, plaque, or tartar, a plan will be made from there with you and one of our dentist. Then we clean your teeth and remove any built-up plaque or tartar that could cause cavities later on.
It all builds up
There are small areas of the mouth that are hard to reach with a brush or floss. When our teeth are neglected or are not cleaned thoroughly, plaque begins to build up. It then becomes difficult to remove, turns into tartar, and can only be removed by a professional. Regular dental cleanings help prevent tartar from causing permanent damage or even creating holes in your teeth. Most insurance cover cleanings twice a year for everyone covered by the plan. If you don’t have insurance, as about our HomeTown Dental Plan.
In-between dental check-ups
Unfortunately, it is not possible to come to the dentist every day but there are little things you can do at home to maintain great dental hygiene.
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride
- Floss daily
- To help control plaque buildup, use mouthwash after brushing
