dental health New Year's resolutions

As your trusted North Texas dentist, HomeTown Dental sets out to not only tend to our patients’ dental health but also to educate them on how to achieve maximum dental health with as little professional intervention as possible. Our goal is that everyone has beautiful, healthy smiles and that we eventually work ourselves out of our jobs. Make these dental health New Year’s resolutions to help us achieve our goal.

Brush Twice a Day for Two Minutes

Let’s be frank, this shouldn’t be a resolution you’re just now setting. This is the most important part of your dental health. While many of us certainly brush our teeth twice a day, if we aren’t brushing for at least two minutes each time, then we aren’t really putting in the amount of time needed to properly clean your teeth and gums.

Use the Proper Toothbrush

Even if you are brushing like you’re supposed to, your efforts could be futile if you’re using the wrong toothbrush. There are so many different types of toothbrushes and picking the wrong type can do a lot more harm to your dental health than good. To ensure you’re making the right choice, take a look at HomeTown Dental’s toothbrush guide.

Floss Daily

We’ve said time and time again, but flossing is crucial for dental health. It doesn’t matter if you are using the right kind of toothbrush or not when it comes to the hard-to-reach gunk in between your teeth. Those particles can only be removed with dental floss. However, if using regular dental floss is an issue for you or a member of your family, then there are several flossing alternatives that are worth trying out.

Take Proper Dental Safety Precautions

While HomeTown Dental offers exceptional restorative and cosmetic dentistry services to bring your smile back up to par after an accident, it works out better for everyone if a mouthguard is just worn during contact sports to prevent dental emergencies from even happening. Now if an accident does occur, don’t worry. Our North Texas dentist knows what to do when you experience dental emergencies.

These are all extremely easy New Year’s resolutions for your dental health, and we hope that you stick with these and make them all dental habits. To make sure you’re getting 2018 kicked off right in terms of dental health, contact your local HomeTown Dental to schedule a dental checkup.
