Home Town Dental Wishes you a Happy National Garlic Day

Happy National Garlic Day from Home Town DentalDid you know that April 19 is National Garlic Day each and every year? If there is one thing we love here at Home Town Dental, it’s garlic!

Garlic does more than just offer a mouthwatering taste to food, it has great health benefits, too!

A brief history of garlic:

Garlic is native to Central Asia and has a history dating back over 6,000 years. China is currently the world’s largest producer of garlic with India, South Korea, Egypt and Russia trailing closely behind.

Garlic truly is nature’s wonder drug:

Garlic has been credited for many health benefits including, but not limited to, extending human life, aiding in the prevention of certain strains of cancer, lowering cholesterol, reducing high blood pressure and fighting off common colds.

The number one reason we love garlic:

As a provider of dental care, one of the reasons we love garlic most is for its medicinal help with toothaches. If you have a toothache, you can temporarily relieve the pain by biting down on a clove of garlic.

Garlic can’t solve tooth pain long-term, but we can! If you are experiencing any dental discomfort we urge you to call one of our eight convenient locations in the DFW Metroplex. Our doctors are all available to help you any time you need.

What’s your favorite way to use garlic?

Home Town Dental How To’s: Protect Your Children’s Teeth

Home Town Dental How To Protect Kids Teeth

As an Arlington children’s dentist, we make it our goal at Home Town Dental to educate parents on the importance of protecting children’s teeth. We are a dentist in Arlington, TX dedicated to oral health and oral care and we take our jobs very seriously.

The establishment of a dental routine in the morning and before bed is vital in the preservation of children’s teeth. It is always helpful for a parent to lead by example, too. When a child watches their parent brush and floss, they will want to do the same!

Here’s a Home Town Dental How To Guide to help you care for your children’s teeth:

  • Offer healthy foods and drinks at meal and snack times
  • Clean your child’s mouth after they eat
  • Take your child to the dentist for regular exams and cleanings
  • be sure to use a very small amount of fluoride toothpaste when cleaning your child’s teeth.
  • Only give your baby a bottle of water at bedtime or nap time, not milk or juice
  • To protect from cavities do not allow your children to share any of the following items: spoons or forks, cups, bottles, toothbrushes, pacifiers or sippy cups

The earlier you start bringing your child to the dentist, the better. It is always a good idea for children to get used to the sights and sounds of a dental office so he or she does not develop a preconceived fear.

If it’s time for your child’s first dental exam or they are due for a routine cleaning, call any of our eight offices in the DFW Metroplex today to schedule an appointment.
